Mapping of cost types and type codes

This overview is created as inspiration for configuring your own Acubiz environment. The expense types listed here represent the categories we most often see used by employees on the go.

Automation via Type Codes (MCC)

To optimize the user experience and minimize manual entry, the overview is mapped to the relevant type codes (MCC). This enables a higher degree of automation when transactions are imported from credit cards.

Important regarding setup: Not all accounts or expense types should be automated with a type code. Here are the most important considerations:

• Accuracy above all: Some type codes are too broad for direct mapping.

• Example: A purchase in a supermarket can cover anything from catering to IT equipment. If supermarkets are always mapped to one type, there is a risk of incorrect postings.

• Recommendation: Do not assign specific type codes to vendors with a diffuse product range. This ensures that the employee decides on the categorization themselves, which increases data quality in the bookkeeping.

For certain expense types, an individual type code can be set up that fits your specific business and methods, so even if it says above "⚠️ No general type code available", individual mapping can be made. See Automatic posting with type codes.
