General improvements

• UI changes after Google has required that the app must support edge-to-edge layout. See screenshot. 
  • User impact: Users will notice some incorrect colors in various places (see screenshot).
• The app will no longer ask for permission when a user wants to add a photo from the gallery. User rights are still respected but with less friction for the user.

• Changes have been made to the app to meet performance-related requirements from Google.
